I gave up a nursing career after much consideration to pursue something that would give me a more peaceful and balanced working life as I became quite exhausted after twenty years of working for the NHS. I was really fortunate at the time to be offered a job that introduced me to the creative world and during this time attended many workshops and eventually a silversmithing course. I had a light bulb moment when I was walking along the beach looking for treasures, particularly sea glass, where I wondered if I could bring all my new skills together and make jewellery using the glass that I find when beach combing. That was 17 years ago my love and passion is still as strong and I have definitely achieved my dream! I have a beach hut in my garden where I create and still absolutely love going on many walks along the coast enjoying every step and finding beautiful sea glass gems. I work with sterling silver and silver art clay and carry a sketch book with me as at random times a design suddenly comes up in my thoughts and I need to write it down for future reference – never a dull moment!
